The Wurzel Bush Folk Club

The club is now closed and may never reopen. As organiser I wanted to tell all the club’s supporters why I have decided to end the club’s association with Brinklow RBL club. Just after Easter I received a threatening letter from Warwickshire County Council which I have placed on this website see link button top left. It is fundamentally treating me and my family as little better than criminals when we have been the unfortunate victims of very serious crimes, The past 5 years have been absolute hell for us. Much of our misfortunes could have been avoided if The Royal British Legion Association had not decided to cover up serious crimes involving two former officials of Brinklow RBL club. I have been on the committee of Brinklow Royal British Legion Club for about 10 years and a lot of people have attributed me with turning around the once debt ridden RBL club. I doubt whether any one would dispute that the arrival at the club of The Wurzel Bush Folk Club in 1994 dramatically changed the RBL clubs public profile. I take the matter of ensuring the law of the land is upheld with regards to the serving of alcoholic drinks to minors very seriously. I also will not tolerate corruption. Last Saturday (12th May) I also ‘Outed’ The Royal British Legion Association for not reporting the former chairman of Brinklow Royal British Legion Club and former club secretary to the authorities for attempting to defraud the club’s insurance of about £7000 following the robbery at the club in November 2002. The safe and a large amount of stock and money was stolen. Although the two men were expelled from the club and The Royal British Legion Association I believe this cover up has caused my family and myself untold misery. The robbery took place a couple of days after the club had held a successful village Bonfire, Fireworks Display and Barbecue this was when the club’s safe was full of cash. During the robbery the club’s upstairs office was broken into and one draw of a filing cabinet was forced open and letters and a minute’s book were stolen. I have since discovered that one of those letters was about the disappearance of a 14 year old village girl after she got extremely drunk at the club earlier that year. On Saturday in front of a packed house of folk music fans I was able to ‘Out’ Warwickshire County Council, Warwickshire Police Authority and The Royal British Legion Association for their disregard for English Law. In particular for the way they had run roughshod over English Licensing Laws with regards to the laws which apply to Private members clubs and the law which makes it a criminal offence for an adult to buy alcoholic drinks for persons under 18 on licensed premises. I subsequently wanted to show The Crown Prosecution Service the letter and club's minutes book in connection with the unpleasant sexual assault of my daughterby this man and another man. But it had been stolen. (Only someone with inside knowledge would have known which drawer of the filing cabinet contained the missing evidence.) In the spring of 2002 The Royal British Legion club committee received a complaint from the mother of a 14 year old Brinklow girl that her daughter was allowed to buy a large amount of alcoholic drinks on the night she disappeared. Witnesses have said that the following morning the girl's distraught mother called at houses of other teenagers asking if they had seen her daughter. The girl was eventually found but had missed the school bus. At the next meeting of The Royal British Legion committee those present were told that a local man had in fact bought the girl a large number of strong drinks from the members bar. A number of witnesses had confirmed this to be the case. A committee member pointed out that the man had broken the law and should face a member’s disciplinary hearing. The chairman said that the man wasn't a member of the club. The guest book was examined to see if the man had been a bonefide guest of a member. It was suggested that the police should deal with the matter because the man was not entitled to purchased drinks in our private members club bar. The Secretary said that if the police became involved then the man would take action against the club's committee. The chairman said that this man had a reputation for causing criminal damage to cars. The chairman added there was nothing the committee could do about the man using the member’s bar. At the following committee meeting it was asked why much of the previous meetings details were not in the minutes. The chairman said that any one could read the minutes and he couldn’t allow allegations that persons had broken the law to be written down because the club could be sued. A number of teenagers have alleged that the 14-year-old girl had claimed she had been sexually assaulted on the night she disappeared . In August 2002 a close member of my family was sexually assaulted by the same man and his friend in what I can only describe as a Gang Bang attack. I believe the British Legion broke the law by allowing such serious criminal activities to go unreported as a result of this my family have been put through hell. A member of my family has been traumatised by a man whose behaviour is that of a pedaphile. The Royal British Legion Association should not have covered up these very serious crimes by club officials.
